How it all started

Dům Dobra Karlín is our first house, which was built day and night by over 100 volunteers. That’s why we were able to accept our first guests after only a week of work.

The Dům Dobra Karlín building, a stone’s throw from the center of Prague, was furnished to us by Vihorev developments and investments group who care about this situation. Every corner of the house was carefully prepared by volunteers, because most of the things were donated by fond people.

What we provided

Dům Dobra Karlín is a dormitory for mothers and children with the following facilities:

  • Sleeping space in a room for 4 to 8 people
  • Common shower rooms and toilets
  • A communal kitchen with a dining area on the floor which is equipped with a stove, oven, refrigerators and all necessary utensils
  • Shared laundry on the floor with 2 washing machines, powder and dryer
  • Children’s room with toys, coloring books and children’s clothes

The Dům Dobra Karlín is open only to refugees who have obtained a special visa. This visa will allow you to stay legally in the Czech Republic for one year and receive financial support from the state.

When you move in, you get acquainted with the rules of dorminority and we’re gonna provide you with basic necessities.
